🥪 British Sandwich Week

Welcome to our British Sandwich Week themed Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) session - a chance to celebrate one of Britain’s favourite foods while enjoying conversation, memories, music and fun activities together.

Sandwiches are something most of us have enjoyed throughout our lives, whether it was jam sandwiches in a school packed lunch, egg and cress for afternoon tea, cheese and pickle on a day trip, or bacon sandwiches on a cold morning. Familiar foods can unlock powerful memories, encourage conversation and help people reconnect with important moments from the past.

Today’s activities include:

  • Discussing favourite sandwiches from different decades

  • Naming and ranking Britain’s Top 20 Sandwiches

  • Talking about school packed lunches, sandwich fillings and old-fashioned lunch boxes

  • Remembering cafĂ©s, tea rooms, picnics and family outings

  • A fun food-themed quiz and word games

  • Sharing recipes and “secret ingredients”

Music is also at the heart of today’s session. Our CST Songs Of The Day are:

  • Make It With You - Bread

  • Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty

Both songs link perfectly to the theme of bread, baking and familiar comforts. Music can stimulate memory, improve mood, encourage singing along and create valuable social interaction - all important parts of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy.

As always, the aim is simple: to enjoy meaningful conversation, boost confidence, stimulate memory and have fun together in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
