🍒 National Cherry Day

Welcome to my National Cherry Day celebration! Today we’re celebrating one of Britain's favourite summer fruits. Cherries have been enjoyed for thousands of years and have long been associated with summer, orchards, good health and sweet memories. Whether you picked cherries from a tree as a child, baked them into a pie, enjoyed a Black Forest gâteau or remember a glass of Cherry B at a party, today's activities are full of opportunities to reminisce, chat and exercise our memories.

We'll begin with some fun facts about National Cherry Day, followed by some well-known cherry sayings and expressions such as "Life is just a bowl of cherries," "The cherry on top," and "Two bites of the cherry." We'll then put our memories to the test with two enjoyable challenges: Name as many cherry-related things as you can and Name as many red things as you can - there are probably far more than first meet the eye!

Our CST Song of the Day is "7 Seconds" by Neneh Cherry and Youssou N'Dour, leading us into a discussion about the surprising importance of the number seven in everyday life - from the seven days of the week and seven colours of the rainbow to the Seven Wonders of the World, lucky seven and many other famous sevens.

We'll finish with two more musical treats. "Cherry Blossom Pink (and Apple Blossom White)" is a beautiful instrumental that became an international hit in the 1950s and evokes memories of springtime, dancing and romance. Finally, we'll enjoy "Sherry" by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Although it isn't about cherries at all, its title makes it a perfect light-hearted way to round off our cherry-themed session.

So let's enjoy a day full of colour, conversation, music and memories - there's something for everyone to get involved in!
