'World Beard Day' 🧔🏻‍♂️ 5 September

Today we’re celebrating World Beard Day with a wonderfully hairy collection of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy activities!
We’ll begin with some Facts About World Beard Day, followed by Let’s Talk Beards - an opportunity to share memories and discuss how attitudes towards beards have changed over the years.
Next, we’ll test our powers of observation with Name These Different Types of Beard, followed by a Memory Challenge. We’ll then meet some Famous Bearded Faces from History and Culture, with another memory challenge to see how many we can remember.
Our factoid slides explore The Hippy Look, The Hipster Look, and Sikhs and Body Hair, helping us discover how facial hair can be connected with fashion, identity, faith and culture.
There are more picture quizzes along the way, including Name These Famous Modern Bearded Faces, Television and Movies Featuring Bearded Characters, and Name the Music Acts Which Included Members with Beards.
Finally, we have three CST Songs of the Day. From the 1979 film Hair, we’ll enjoy “Good Morning Starshine” and “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In.” We’ll also hear “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman, performed in the film by the Bearded Lady - reminding us that not everyone with a beard is a man and celebrating confidence, individuality and being proud of who you are.
So, stroke your chin, put on your thinking cap and join us for a celebration of beards, history, culture, music, memories and conversation!
