🎬 Alfred Hitchcock Day — 12 March
Alfred Hitchcock Day celebrates the life and work of the legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock, often called the “Master of Suspense.” Born on 12 March 1899 in London, Hitchcock became one of the most influential filmmakers in cinema history.
Across a career spanning more than 50 films, he perfected the art of tension, mystery, and psychological drama. His trademark techniques included clever camera angles, dramatic music, and the famous “MacGuffin” plot device that keeps audiences guessing. Many of his films remain classics today, including Rear Window, Vertigo, North by Northwest, and the chilling Psycho.
Hitchcock was also known for his dry humour and for making brief cameo appearances in many of his own films. His influence can still be seen in modern thrillers and television dramas around the world.
🎵 CST Song of the Day — “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)”
Today’s song choice comes from the Hitchcock film The Man Who Knew Too Much. In the movie, Doris Day sings Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be), which later became one of the most famous songs of the 1950s.
The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1957 and went on to become Doris Day’s signature tune. In the film, the song plays a crucial role in the plot when it is used to help locate a kidnapped child — turning a gentle lullaby into a key moment of suspense.
With its memorable line “Whatever will be, will be,” the song perfectly captures Hitchcock’s world of uncertainty and tension — where the future is never quite what it seems.
