Celebrate National Banana Split Day with a fun-filled CST session packed with fascinating facts, reminiscence, comedy, music and - of course - bananas!

Discover the story of the banana split and explore some surprising facts about bananas, including how children in Britain had to be shown how to peel and eat them when bananas returned after the Second World War.

We’ll reminisce about the famous Geest banana boats arriving at Barry Docks, revisit the classic banana-skin gag and see how many timeless black-and-white visual comedians we can name. We’ll also enjoy some hilarious slapstick with Laurel and Hardy, as a banana-skin mishap leads to a wonderfully chaotic cream-pie fight.

There is plenty of music and television nostalgia too, including “Yes! We Have No Bananas,” “The Banana Boat Song (Day-O)” and the colourful children’s television favourites The Banana Splits and their unforgettable theme song.

To finish the session, why not make and enjoy your own banana split together? Add scoops of ice cream, sliced banana, sauces, cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top for a delicious end to the day!
