đź National Panda Day â March 16
'National Panda Day' celebrates one of the worldâs most beloved and recognisable animals â the giant panda. Native to the mountain forests of central China, the giant panda spends most of its day eating bamboo and can consume up to 12â15 kilograms of it daily. Despite belonging to the bear family, pandas are famous for their calm nature, distinctive black-and-white markings, and their slightly clumsy but charming behaviour.
The day is also a reminder of the importance of conservation. Thanks to international efforts, including breeding programmes and habitat protection led by organisations such as the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), panda numbers have slowly increased and the species has been reclassified from âendangeredâ to âvulnerable.â National Panda Day encourages people to learn about wildlife conservation and to protect the fragile habitats where pandas live.
đľ CST Song of the Day â âEbony and Ivoryâ
Todayâs CST Song of the Day is 'Ebony and Ivory' by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder (1982).
Inspired by the black and white keys of a piano, the song carries a simple but powerful message about harmony and unity. Just as ebony and ivory keys work together to make beautiful music, the song reminds us that people of different backgrounds can live and work together in peace.
The theme fits perfectly with 'National Panda Day'. Like the pandaâs iconic black-and-white colouring, the song celebrates how contrasting colours can come together to create something positive and uplifting. Itâs a gentle, memorable tune that many people will recognise â perfect for sparking conversation and a sing-along.
