Today we’re celebrating National Cinema Day with a nostalgic trip to the movies — full of memories, famous faces, classic films, music and movie magic!

We’ll begin with some fascinating Facts About the Cinema, followed by a Let’s Talk about our own cinema-going memories — the films we loved, the stars we admired and what a trip to the pictures was like years ago.

Then we’ll remember the wonderful Children’s Film Foundation and those Saturday-morning cinema adventures before putting our memories to the test with some fun challenges. Can you name familiar things associated with the movies, recognise some of Hollywood’s greatest legends, and identify some of the best-loved films of all time?

Our cinema Factoids take us back to two enormous changes in movie history. We’ll look at the dazzling use of Technicolor in The Wizard of Oz and then discover how Singin’ in the Rain affectionately recreated Hollywood’s difficult and often hilarious transition from silent films to talking pictures.
